What EV fleet management means

EV fleet management means running electric vans and cars with the data to keep them charged, on the road and safe. EV telematics does most of the work: a tracker in each vehicle sends its location, journeys and driving data to one online platform and, on many electric vehicles, it can also read the battery level, whether the vehicle is charging and how far it can still go.

GRS tracks electric vehicles on the same platform as the rest of your fleet, so you do not need a second system while you switch. Which battery data you see depends on the vehicle's make and model and the tracker fitted, so ask us about your vehicles before you order.

Where EV fleets struggle

  • Which vans are ready

Planners need to know which vehicles have enough charge for the day's work before they leave.

  • Range on the road

Real-world range drops with load, cold weather, hills and driving style, so the number on the brochure is not enough.

  • Two systems for one fleet

Electric, petrol and diesel vehicles often end up on different tools, which splits reports and wastes time.

  • Choosing what to switch next

Deciding which vans to replace with EVs needs real daily mileage, not estimates.

  • Driving that costs range

Speeding and harsh driving raise risk and cut how far an electric vehicle goes on a charge.

  • Vans parked out of sight

Vehicles kept at homes and depots overnight can be used out of hours or stolen.

How GRS helps EV fleets

  • Battery, charging and range

On compatible trackers and vehicles, see each EV's battery level, whether it is charging and, where the vehicle reports it, how far it can still go.

  • One platform for every vehicle

Electric, petrol and diesel vehicles share one live map, journey history and set of reports, on the web platform and the iOS and Android apps.

  • Daily mileage for planning

Daily distance reports show how far each vehicle really travels, which helps you choose which vans to replace with EVs.

  • Smoother, safer driving

Speeding, harsh braking and cornering scores support coaching for every driver, electric or not.

  • Security when parked

Geofence alerts for out-of-hours use, a hidden backup tracker on Shield, and theft reporting 24/7.

  • Free fitting, quick start

Fitted free by GRS's own engineers. Most fleets are live within 2 weeks.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

What is EV fleet management?
Running electric vans and cars with the data to keep them charged, on the road and safe. Telematics brings each vehicle's location, journeys and driving data into one platform and, on compatible vehicles, its battery data too.
Can GRS show an electric vehicle's battery level and range?
Yes, on compatible trackers and vehicles. Battery level, charging status and remaining range come from the vehicle's own data, and not every make and model shares them, so ask us about your vehicles before you order.
Can I track electric, petrol and diesel vehicles together?
Yes. Every vehicle appears on the same live map, with the same journey history, geofences and driving reports, on the web platform and the iOS and Android apps.
Can GRS help me decide which vans to switch to electric?
Daily distance reports show how far each vehicle really travels each day, so you can compare that with an electric model's range before you choose which vans to replace.
Do electric vans pay the London Congestion Charge?
Yes, at a discount. Since 2 January 2026, electric vans registered for Auto Pay get a 50% Cleaner Vehicle Discount and electric cars 25%. From 4 March 2030 the van discount falls to 25% and the car discount to 12.5%. Check TfL for the latest rules.
How quickly can an EV fleet go live?
Most fleets are live within 2 weeks. Fitting is free and done by GRS's own engineers.
